Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless Headphones Review

These closed-back headphones are a great option for those who wish to save money on premium headphones. Their soundstages aren't as large and immersive as open-back models but they still deliver excellent audio quality with a high level of quality.

The wireless over-ear headphones are comfortable and offer an excellent level of ANC. They also offer an app companion to the headphones that includes EQ presets as well as a replacement cable that is coiled.

HD 600

This classic pair open-back Sennheiser headphones is among the best headphones in the price range. They offer good audio quality, comfort and re-usable components. They have a wide soundstage that accurately portrays the vocals and instruments, but can be a bit lacking in bass for some. They also have a slightly bright tone that can be bothersome for some listeners.

The HD 600 is an extremely durable and comfortable lightweight headphone. The HD 600 is constructed of a combination metal, plastic and velour. The headband is padded with foam and secures itself to the ears. The ear cups are large, so they can comfortably accommodate larger heads. The cable can be detachable and it can be replaced with a larger version if required.

The headphones require an amplifier in order to function properly. The amp will make the frequencies more smooth and balanced, and it will reduce distortion. Make use of an audiophile headphone stand to guard them from damage caused by foreign objects. The headphone stand can also keep the cord out of the way which is a good option considering it's quite lengthy.

They feature a large soundstage, and their open design makes them perfect for home audio systems. The HD 600s are compatible with many audio sources such as CDs, vinyl, and digital files. They also have an outstanding frequency response and their neodymium-based magnets produce excellent sound.

The only reason that the HD 600s didn't score 10/10 marks was that they are a bit too bright for certain people. However, they are one of the most loved and recommended headphones by reviewers. This pair of headphones is an excellent upgrade for anyone who wants to replace the standard headphones that came with their portable electronic devices. The price tag is a bit expensive, however the quality of the headphones is worth it. The HD 600s make an excellent investment for audiophiles. They are also a great option for those looking to listen to classical music since they reproduce the details of the performance very well.

The HD 650 also have above-average consistency in the bass range, meaning they sound the same no matter the way you wear and position them. They are less consistent in the treble, and you can hear a 6dB difference depending on the shape of your ear and how you wear them.

MOMENTUM

Sennheiser's MOMENTUM headphones are one of its most sought-after active noise cancellation (ANC) headphone models. The MOMENTUM 4 Wireless headphones are an excellent alternative for ANC headphones. They have a good record of performance and a low price.

The ear cups have an impressive amount of padding and are designed to sit comfortably around your ears. The top of the band which goes around your neck, is encased in soft leatherette. I found it comfortable to wear for long periods of time and the band has enough give to allow for glasses which is a nice addition.

Contrary to other ANC headphones like unlike some ANC headphones, MOMENTUM 4 Wireless' sound is balanced rather than over-emphasizing highs or bass. This is a good thing as it provides an accurate representation of speech and music. They do tend to veer into the territory of boosting at lower frequencies but it's a typical feature of headphones targeted at commuters, where ambient noise is likely to be competing with low-level music and speech.

Like other frontrunners in the ANC category, the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless Noise Reduction is robust. It's not as great as the top ANC headphones we tested however, it is close. You can also defer projects by two clicks to the next quarter making them a great choice for school or work.

You can connect the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless to any device using Bluetooth and you have the option of using SBC AAC, aptX codecs, or aptX HD. The 3.5mm headphone's jack can be used to listen to audio sources without Bluetooth support.

The MOMENTUM Wireless comes with an array of microphones that allow you to make and receive calls. The microphone does a decent job but it's not going provide the best audio quality for phone conversations. The microphone is still superior to the ones found on many entry-level headphones.
